’sequence n°1’ by Filip Dujardin for the open air art festival FLUX

A wall of 40m in length is kept straight by different kinds of buttresses. These supports have the form of the most common typologies in architecture namely a wall, an arch, a chimney, a classic buttress and so on.They are placed in a certain sequence and provoke the suggestion of an openfolded house or even the typical ribbon buildings in Flanders. This whole ensemble was built parallel with the river and is a gesture towards the city centre that doens’t have a lot of contact withits river that runs through it. It is also a celebration of the primal elements that are part of the DNA of architecture.
