Serene Sanctuary

In the heart of Byculla, Mumbai, Yaquta Nomani Designs, a leading design firm took up the task to transform an 1150 Sq. Ft. apartment into an abode that symbolizes contemporary elegance. Working with a design philosophy that could blend functionality with aesthetic, the firm curated the design for a spacious 2 BHK apartment and executed the vision within a duration of 6 months. The client Dr. Mohammad Aslam intended to have a home that was centered on minimalism and exuded a contemporary way of design. His primary requirements comprised an open, clutter-free layout with a material palette that was extensively focused on marble and veneer. Designed to balance the warm beige with wooden textures, the design team successfully crafted an abode with ambiance that could stay timeless.

The design team commenced a well-structured design process taking clarity received from the client as a base. Beginning with detailed layout planning, the process was continued with the creation of mood boards that featured classic designs inspired from contemporary design styles. To ensure an immersive understanding of the spatial planning, the team progressed to 3D visualizations based on the finalized key concepts. Every detail in the design was polished with a meticulous material selection to deliver the desired aesthetic. Furthermore, the conceptual ideation was brought to life through a streamlined execution of the designs combined with details.

The living room was crafted to establish a warm and welcoming tone for the apartment that overlooked the scenic Mumbai shoreline. A textured marble-top center table with veins perfectly complemented the soft beige fabric of the sofa and the rug with subtle geometric patterns was laid exquisitely below it. The space adhered to a neutral-toned palette wherein the MDF mouldings and veneer paneling paired with sleek black textured tiles, created a seamless design language.

Connected to the living area, the dining space was designed with a clear emphasis on cohesion maintaining a consistent material and color palette throughout both spaces. It features a crockery unit with printed veneer shutters and a statement chandelier contrasting the subtlety of the space with grandeur. The dichotomy of subtle tones and dramatic lighting gifts the space an incomparable vibrancy. A marble-top dining table with brass-finished legs complemented the overall aesthetic. The interplay of materials, colors and textures within the dining area resulted in an inviting environment, suitable for both formal and informal gatherings.

The master bedroom, in this residence is a space reflecting understated luxury. A subtle blend of beige, brown and white contribute to making it a serene retreat. The rich textures of veneer and matte melamine polish on the bespoke wardrobes and bed, further accentuate the opulence of the room. Semi-circle antique handles on the wardrobes stand apart due to their distinctive design. The room’s focal point, an embossed floral MDF wall panel behind the bed is meticulously painted with PU paint and it subtly added a flair of uniqueness to the room. Peculiar black T-patti wall lights cast a warm glow on the walls, highlighting the intricate details, while plush soft furnishings complete the space with a touch of comfort.

Clever designing helped the space appear spacious while ensuring every inch of it was used to its fullest potential. Additionally, a neutral color palette acted as a catalyst in serving the purpose. What stands out in the room is a remarkable hanging headboard made from sleek MS pipe, extending modern industrial tone to the space. Crisp white PU-finished fluted paneling on the wall adds depth and verticality. A textured veneer wardrobe, enhanced with a striking fluted charcoal panel at its base, ties the design elements together.
