Concept Introduction:
Damao Oceanic Ecological Village is located in the shallow mountainous area of Ganshiling in the north-eastern part of Sanya City, 15 kilometres away from Sanya City and about 30 minutes by car. It has warm seasons and a pleasant climate, with a 1,200-acre Sannong Reservoir, backed by the green mountains (Ganshiling Provincial Nature Reserve) and running through the blue water (12-kilometre meandering Damao River), with a middle-low and week-high topography, surrounded by mountains, and with scattered villages, rivers, and fields and oceans within the basin, and rich in natural ecological resources. It is rich in natural ecological resources. It is an idyllic and beautiful community integrating a high-tech eco-farm, an immersive nature museum education camp, a private customised social space, and a leisure destination for light-weight families, and belongs to an important window of the development results of rural revitalisation.

The design task is to design a multi-functional interactive pavilion for entertainment and leisure display in the grassy area of Damao Village. The project needs to pay attention to the possibility of multi-functional use of the space, as well as the need for environmental protection regarding the construction materials. The design uses malleable steel as the structural material and ecological carbonised compiled reeds as the skin, using a flowing formal language that blends in with the surrounding environment and also brings many possibilities for the use of the space.

Design Description:
According to the requirements of the design brief, the design concept is developed from several perspectives
Modelling language: flowing forms
For the concept of mobility and multi-functional use, we chose to use steel pipe, which is easy to bend and has a strong plasticity, to form a curved spatial language. Under this set of non-linear language, the basic architectural language of walls, columns and roofs is deconstructed and reduced, and it blends in with the surrounding environment.

Material Language: Steel Pipes, Reeds and Hemp Rope
Twelve steel pipes ranging from 8 to 15 metres in length are the main structural materials, which are bent by hand without much cutting and bending to maximise the use of the materials without creating too much waste. Carbonised reeds were used for the skin material, and sustainability and ecology were also well represented.

The waste material from the bending of the main structure was made into chairs and then wrapped with twine, turning waste into treasure. Recycled materials are utilised twice.
Functions and Scenarios: Diverse Usage Possibilities
In this kiosk, different types of social forms such as intimate space between people, private space, social space and public space can be tapped.
Functions such as gossiping, sunbathing, games, tasting, displaying agricultural products and so on can also be put to use.
