Shell House - The language of forest

Small earth house with local wood, clay and traditional techniques in contemporary environment performance.

It is a small villa in the forest of Nagano Pref. located center of Japan. A client's request that "architecture that is unusual, beautiful, and does not make you feel old in time" and strict condition from the landscape regulation were design requirements. Thinking them the organic form "totally blend into the surrounding forest" were designed. It is the architecture talk to human born from and return to Earth.

1. Outside wall and roof: Asphalt single
2. Inside wall and ceiling: Clay
3. Outside ceiling: lime
4. Floor: 1st Sawara cypress 2nd floor Japanese Red Pine
5. Wood deck: Japanese Red Pine, Chestnut
6. Bath room: white marble stone and mortar
7. Window and openings
- Living and bath room: Wood sliding door, Wood door, Wood sash
- WC and sanitary: Alminium and resin sash
