In order to encourage DHV employees to travel to work by bicycle, DHV architects designed a new shower and changing room. The interior space is defined by curved walls, starting at the entrance and slowly wrapping around the changing area. In contrast, a rigid orthogonal wall is placed in the center of the room. The wall houses the lockers and sinks.
The curved walls suggest a certain continuous shape which folds around the wooden wall. To intensify this effect we gave the floor and walls the same finishing. This bright white, waterproof PU-coating, blurs the transition from floor to wall to ceiling.
The separating wall between the men’s and ladies’ room is carried out as a mirror, giving the space more depth. With the exception of the wooden wall, all elements are colored white.
