A cave buiding was designed to meet the needs of two families in Kefalonia. Is is built below the natural ground level and presents one visible face. Historically, the use of hollow spaces as a dwelling goes back to the beginning of human civilization, as a natural consequence of the need for protection from the elements of nature.

It does not negate anything from the quality of the natural landscape. The building is harmonized with it and its layout is oriented based on the view. The basic rule is the integration and harmonization of the construction in the landscape. 

Bioclimatic principles are fully implemented. The soil has stable temperatures 12-13 oc , so the air temprerature inside the residence is almost constant at around 20 oc and the air quality is ecellent. This is achieved by creating perimeter corridors around the building that allow for the continuous recycling of air and its removal of humidity,with thw result that the required mechanical means and the corresponding energy consumption are the minimum. Increased protection against noise, dust, radiation and extreme weather is provided.
