SKS, a luxury brand in the world of integrated appliances, has opened its new showroom inside The MART, the renowned landmark building in Chicago and a key design hub for the Midwest.
Covering more than 850 square metres, the space designed by Piero Lissoni with Lissoni Architecture New York is inspired by a theatre, where the products become the protagonists, interacting directly with the industrial character of this historic building in Chicago.
Each of the five custom kitchens is presented in its own dedicated, special set, with styles ranging from Transitional to Modern.
It is in this setting that Lualdi supplied three L7 fixed and sliding door systems, designed by Piero Lissoni.
The compositions were developed entirely to measure, featuring aluminium decorative slats on the door surfaces and the use of custom glass. The fixed and sliding panel systems are characterised by oversized dimensions, with heights reaching 348 cm and widths up to 560 cm.
For one of the configurations, glass featuring a special technology was used, allowing the finish to transition from clear to opaque through the application of an electric current. For another system, Flutes glass in an extra-clear transparent finish was applied to the individual door sections in alternating directions, creating an elegant interplay of light and shadow.
