Sohanak Swimming Pool

Sohanak Swimming Pool and its adjoining building are located in a private garden in a northeastern region of Tehran surrounded by pine trees and vegetation. The project sits on a flat area atop of a small hill and offers a view to the city and the surrounding gardens.

The pool was originally intended to be in the villa building, which was built in the northwest of this garden, but there was an old irrigation pool on this side of the garden and was left unused due to the change of irrigation system. To make the best use of the garden and its beautiful landscape, it was decided to give a new identity to this part of the garden with the development of the same swimming pool and a building adjacent including a sauna, hot tub and bathroom, a dressing room and a large jumping platform for sun loungers and watching sunset. Due to the location of the pool in the existing axis, the extension building was considered as a belvedere. One of The characteristic of the belvedere is the hollow interior space and the reflection of the image of the building on the water.

Another issue is the link between architecture and nature. To achieve this, the entire structure and part of the surrounding landscape are framed by a continuous surface, which is connected to the side of the pool on one side and to the surrounding green space on the other. In addition, part of the pool extends along the empty space in the building. The gap created by this interaction is filled with water and makes a unique illusion in this process. This operation is intensified by a large deck overlooking the pool. In other words,
