In the heart of Mallorca, the Son Llaneres residence, designed by the firm Jaime Salvá, Architecture & Interior Design, stands as an oasis of contemporary sophistication within a rustic setting. Commissioned by a Spanish family residing abroad, this cozy holiday home was conceived as a retreat where the connection to nature merges with modern and functional design.
The main challenge of the project was to harmonize contemporary design with the strict aesthetic restrictions of rural land. Strategically located on an extensive plot near the town of Campos, the residence blends naturally into the surrounding landscape, taking full advantage of the flat topography and countryside environment.
The design of Son Llaneres overcomes the aforementioned aesthetic limitations through a combination of local materials.
The volumetric play, achieved through a combination of sloped roofs, helps to define spaces and differentiate the four exterior zones, arranged in a cross shape. One of these zones is dedicated to access, another to the master bedroom, another to the guest area, and lastly, the ground floor, which includes the living room, dining room, and kitchen, arranged in an L-shape, opening up to the porch and pool.
On the upper floor, there are two bedrooms and an additional bathroom, completing the home’s functional layout.
The design is characterized by the predominant use of local materials typical of Mediterranean architecture. In the exteriors, Santanyí dry stone is featured on the facades, combined with stucco finishes in ochre tones. Both indoors and outdoors, grey zarci natural stone is used for flooring, and due to the rural land restrictions, an Arabic-tile sloped roof has been incorporated.
The furniture, mainly composed of natural woods and light tones, was carefully selected by the client to reflect their personal style and preferences.

Additional interior design details:
To enhance the architectural details, LED lights have been installed in the floor, particularly in the stone walls and bathroom and kitchen niches, highlighting the textured tiles designed by Patricia Urquiola.
The house’s lighting has been designed with Tonia Fuster wall lights, emulating the island's traditional materials. Additionally, the company Aromas del Campo has combined natural alabaster, straw, and forged iron to create rustic yet contemporary décor and lighting, in harmony with the desired style for the house.
Hanging lamps have been carefully chosen to add character to specific spaces. Notable pieces include those at the kitchen bar, made from natural stone and forged iron by Aromas del Campo; dining room lamps, custom-made with burlap fabric by Peralta; and wicker lamps on the terrace. The ceilings, adorned with exposed white wooden beams, give the home a distinguished touch, while also contributing to a sense of spaciousness due to their height.
The bathrooms are equipped with products from the brand Inbani, known for their quality and style. The black faucets add a touch of sophistication and align with other wrought iron elements present throughout the house. The sinks are the focal point of each bathroom, with unique designs that add character, while the curved mirrors with LED lighting are both practical and decorative.
