Oyler Wu Collaborative was selected by the City of Los Angeles as a design lead for the Soto Street infrastructural improvement project. The firm has been given the responsibility of developing a unique design character for the entire 8-mile length as well as design of a new bridge that crosses Soto Street. The proposed design employs a folding technique that deploys a more conventional mesh and frame system across a large area in a way that is both designed and economical. It allows for variation of multiple coverage strategies to protect against graffiti. The folding also considers the variation of the wall height across the entire length.
