stapelbeet: A Modular planter system made of CorTen

„What does a good product have to look like?- A product, that not only serves the users, but should also offer added value to the environment and the public. A product that makes sense, is as simple as possible, minimalist in design, helpful, individual, inspiring, ecologically sensible and durable?"

This was the question posed by the Berlin architect and designer Michael Hilgers, known for his multifunctional furniture designs.

His idea: Stacked nature. Simple and self-explanatory.

stapelbeet is a planter element, that can be stacked, lined up and connected with other identical modules to create an infinite number of individual configurations.

You can create a vertical herb garden up to 2 m height which at the same time serves as a privacy screen. In the garden, stapelbeet can be aligned to create paths and zones and on the urban balcony, stapelbeet become a space-saving urban bee pasture with a minimal footprint.

Hilgers uses Corten steel, a material familiar from architecture and art, for his design: Thanks to its characteristic natural patina, this patented metal alloy does not require any environmentally harmful plastic coating or paint: A stapelbeet may last several generations and is 100% recyclable; above all Hilgers appreciates the contrast between the supposedly hard, cold metal and the fragile liveliness of the plants.

stapelbeet by the Berlin based brand rephorm is manufactured in a metal manufactory in Germany and is shipped directly from the workbench to the customer, so to speak.
