LEPEL & LEPEL has implemented a functional and communicative spatial concept for the law firm Streck Mack Schwedhelm in Cologne. It meets the needs of the employees and the requirements of an agile working environment. At the same time, the existing building from 1936, a former officer's casino, is respected.

For the renovation, a new space program was developed and secretary pools, meeting areas, and retreat spaces were created. Across all floors a holistic design conceptembodies the guiding principle of "BIG & BEYOND," reflecting the values of the company and creating an identity-rich space of 1400 square meters.

The design principles follow the 3-key values of the company: competence, strength, and imagination. They extend across all floors, enabling a cohesive appearance. The quality and use of materials respond to the existing architecture.

Competence: A high-quality parquet floor serves as a solid foundation, connecting the different areas and forming a competent spatial envelope in conjunction with the existing structure.

Strength: A strong blue color horizon highlights representative special areas that provide identity and orientation. A monolithic design language for built-in elements and furniture supports this concept.

Imagination: A ceiling light installation with mirror elements breaks through the solid spatial envelope and serves as a contrast to the limited space. It aims to inspire the mind and transcend boundaries. Additionally, classical existing elements are carefully incorporated and reinterpreted in combination with modern elements.

The particular challenge of this project was to carry out the necessary interventions in the existing structure with care and respect, considering the preservation of the building's historical charm.
