Studio Anatomy is a recently completed reformer Pilates studio located in London
Fields, Hackney. The client approached DEDRAFT with a distinct vision for an interior that would create a serene, calming environment to enhance the experience of their new clientele. The main focus of the design was to create an open-plan, sun-soaked space with plenty of natural light offering a unique experience that differs from their competitors, ensuring users have an uplighting and tranquil space in which to work out.

The key challenge was to eliminate the feeling of the studio being located in what had previously been a dilapidated first-floor commercial unit. To achieve the desired vision whilst working closely with the client and their well-considered brief we designed a series of three spaces - a light, airy reception in which to welcome clients, a semi- private stripped-back but luxurious changing space and a large, naturally-lit studio.

A consistent palette of materials was utilised to maintain simplicity consisting of three core finishes - lime plaster, poured resin floor, and warm bespoke oak joinery. The use of punched arches, without doors gives a continuum and framed visual connections between the spaces of the studio making for an intuitive and usee friendly space. The rich oak joinery recesses throughout complement the finishes, adding warnth to the light, pared-back interior. The reception and changing rooms feature draped fabrics that form a backdrop to freestanding furniture and elements that create a soft and luxurious atmosphere.

The space is designed to be functional and practical, with ample storage and seating
for clients to change and prepare for their workouts. DEDRAFT worked very closely with the client to ensure that the design of Studio Anatomy met their brief and exceeded their expectations. The result is a stunning Pilates studio that is functional and beautiful. The natural light, use of natural materials, and elegant design make a welcoming space where the clientele can work out in calm and therapeutic surroundings, enriching the overall experience.
