The site is located at the area of Naousa, in the island of Paros, facing the sea to the south. The complex consists of five houses, positioned in such a way that views towards the sea are ensured for all houses. References to a Modern Cycladic Architecture are apparent and traditional elements are transformed using a more contemporary language, based on the plasticity of form, while following the main principles of vernacular architecture: proportions, mass, façade aesthetics, courtyards. A system of small volumes and an arrangement of open courtyards, are harmonically integrated in the landscape and do not disrupt it. The interior spaces are set in slightly tilted axes, while the open courtyards are placed in order to be protected from the island’s very strong winds. The sequence of volumes with different height and proportions allows for elevations with diverse character and plasticity of form.
