Located in Subang Regency, far north of Bandung City across Lembang. In a place that can be hot during the day and cold at night. This house was built as a second house and dwelled when the family was on vacation. As the family rarely lives in this house, the owner wants the building to be low-maintained as possible.
In the front area, the different elevations from the carport to the terrace/garden create a specific public space to hang out.
The living, dining, and kitchen area combined into one open plan, make the house could hold an event for around 50 people. And with help of a tall folding door with glass leaves on both sides end, reveal more space from the front terraces through the back into the swimming pool area.
When the door was open, the air flowed in and out through the other opening and also come up through the void, cooling the temperature inside the house when it was daylight. Around the void, the ceiling was filleted to make the interior less rigid and softened the light from above.
While the ground floor is open and transparent, a massive wall was used for a private area on the second floor, making it seem like the house is one big floating box. A black-thin plate opened up the wall and framed the window, letting the sunlight go through inside the bedroom.
Different positioning and linking of the bricks to make a lattice work as a less massive wall that separates the main road and front garden, the prayer room, and swimming pool, and also gives texture and color to the building.
