The Global Climate Change Pavilion is a conceptual proposal for a large public structure designed to accommodate research and interactive exhibits oriented around the phenomenon of global climate change. The research and the exhibits explore the consequences of, and the solutions to, global warming. Symbolically, the design of the structure refers to the interaction between the earth and its climate.
A large array of solar panel-covered canopies surround the center exhibition dome. The solar canopies partially shelter the space below for special events and exhibits and generate heat and electricity from the sun for the entire pavilion. The exhibition dome is made of photocatalytic concrete that cleans itself and the air around it. The pavilion is naturally ventilated and lit, and rainwater is collected and contained for use in and around the pavilion.
Most of the research portion of the pavilion is located underground below the exhibit dome. The interior surface of the exhibit dome is used for interactive video projections that graphically illustrate the global effects of climate change.
