The nests project is being developed in a seaside site, out of the town on Nea Moudania in Kassandra Chalkidiki. The objective of the project is the redesign and the change of use of the existing monolithic shells in the site as well as the development of outdoor common living spaces which will host the activities of the new hotel.

The hotel consists of 14 rooms housed in a two-story building oriented with unobstructed views to the coast and 6 suites with private pools and backyards. On the plot, there is a restaurant which serves the customers as well as external visitors.

The common pool, the specially designed canopies and pergolas serve the hotel's activities and can accommodate various events. The basic principles of the design is the creation of interventions in the existing shells and in the outdoor space, in the form of new cores-nests of both privacy and socialization, as the case may be. The new "nests" are constructed with a metal frame cladded in faux wood materials and fillers such as reeds and other natural materials found in the birds’ nests of the buildings of the Greek countryside.

The main monochromatic building volumes are the canvas upon which the "nests" come to settle. These interventions create an interest and provide a change to the horizontality of the buildings and the plot itself. All outdoor configurations are placed and harmonized with the existing small olive grove and the rest of the trees that exist within the plot. The various canopies, pergolas and olive tree foliage provide variety of scenarios for shelter and protection from the sun.

The external lighting of the buildings and of the outdoor constructions and configurations, highlights the new interventions - the nests - and marks the various routes of the users. The design of the interior spaces with earthy tones, natural materials and coatings as well as the light decoration combined with the various lighting scenarios compose an environment of relaxation and tranquility for the guests.
