The Other House

The Other House

– Denver dreams of density, but wakes up to fresh air.
– An auxillary dwelling unit (ADU) doesn’t have to feel like a tiny-house, in fact it can feel like a summer palace.
– The Other House is a small universe of architecture, it’s made of primary architectural elements, walls, openings, a roof and surrounded by a high fence. A patio house resembling Mies’.
– The gardens around the house vary in size and orientation. Each room’s proportion relates directly to its outdoor space outside.
– Each room opens to the outside with corners made from glass.
– A roof sits ontop of the walls with open corners and overhangs into the alley. Inside the roof is marked with Maple panels, often opening to for storage.
– The kitchen is furniture, a large light table instead of an architectural monolith.
– The Other House is quiet and boring, but it proposes a specific way of life, private, outside and organized.
