The Royal Saxon Hotel

This project entailed bringing a derelict building back to life and creating much needed green space in Richmond. The brief was for a demographically inclusive pub environment for locals and visitors.

The design plays with perceptions of old and new, reviving old elements and adding new elements that could be mistaken for old. New interior walls reference in-filled windows, remnant walls and fireplaces found in many inner city sites. The walled garden as it grows and envelops the building with foliage, will give the intended impression of being an urban ruin.
