TMY

Built in the suburbs of Tokyo, this small residence has a total floor area of 720 square feet. Its external appearance is likened to boxes linked together, which provides privacy to the residents by shielding them from the nearby dwellings and road.

Through providing different levels corresponding to the uses of the areas, a sense of transformation can be felt not only in the surface direction, but also in the height direction; and thereby introducing a certain rhythm to living there. For example, the level difference between the living area and the dining area is 15 inches. When entertaining many guests the level difference can be used as a bench.
