Built in a prominent business district in downtown Buenos Aires known as Catalinas Norte, the new 30-story headquarters for Banco Macro is adjacent to Torre BankBoston, also by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. Together, their distinct profiles energize the skyline.
Sculptural and dynamic yet highly functional and efficient, the challenge was to fit the building into an irregularly-shaped five-sided site. The tower, with its highly reflective glass curtain wall, is nearly elliptical in plan with a gentle inward curve as it rises. A sloping/sinuousrooftop echoes the street level canopy. On upper, senior level offices, triple-height floor-to-ceiling windows offer dramatic city and river views.
Employee amenities, such a gymnasium, daycare center, and cafeteria, are included. Retail banking is available on the ground floor. The building is designed for a LEED Gold rating.
