The original building, erected in 1960, is located in the hamlet of briey in chippis. it features a massive masonry chimney around which are organized the spaces of this holiday home: covered entrance, kitchen, living room and terrace.
The project takes advantage of this specificity by fitting inside the preserved facades. Contrasting with the existing building, the project is built entirely in wood, revealing well-appointed, comfortable interior spaces.
The volumetry has also been redefined. an attic floor has been created, completing the chalet with 2 new bedrooms. a double-height play on the living room and dining room sets the scene for spatial relationships between the levels.
on the inside, the new thermal envelope, walls and floors are clad in identical pine plywood panels. This unity of materials helps to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere with modest means.
a terrace completes the outdoor layout. its __cpLocation and height make it a real threshold in the sequence of accesses to the chalet via rustic quarry stone steps. facing south, this space, immersed in the Alpine peaks, benefits from ideal sunshine.
