Uì - Sicilian Food Experience is a restaurant built on the ground floor of an ancient building in the historic center of Catania, in Sicily (Italy). The intervention consists in the remodeling of the internal space, through the creation of custom-made furniture and wall coverings.
A local wood craftsman took care of the realization of the wall coverings and custom-made furniture. The goal was to create a sophisticated place, by using light, a great protagonist of CostaArchitetti’s projects.
For the flooring of the whole restaurant was used a prefinished parquet, while all the walls, except those covered with handmade wood panels, were treated using bio lime. It is a natural, porous and highly breathable plaster, suitable for the supporting walls in lava stone, typical of the area on the slopes of Mount Etna.
