The project consist in building 40 housing units in the center of Brussels on behalf of a local developer. These units take place in a set of three existing buildings, very different from each ones, and a new corner building. The overall buildings are placed along 3 streets: Fabriques - Senne - Aneessens. The existing building are very heterogeneous both in terms of size, functions, typology and style. These heterogeneity are also reflected inside in the existing units which are characterize by qualities such as structure, spatiality, views, light, sequences, hierarchy and standing. The project want to restore an urban order by enhancing the building facing Senne street by 2 levels in order to eave hight which determines the character of the street. A dark color has being assign to this enhances in order to give a continuation to all the new parts such as the opposite building and the enhancing of the central building. By assigning a color to all the new parts, balconies, volumes and buildings make it easy to read and create a crescendo differentiation that animate, complement, rhythm and unify this diverse island portion. The new building on the corner as the function to articulate the 2 street, with rather different status, which is facing as well as the entrance to the nearby private art foundation. It offers an articulated / disarticulated shape that function as a pin between this two different orders. It emphasize the alignment on one side while denying the other one. It adheres to the template of this district but by proposing an architecture (volume, opening, moldings, balconies, swaying, colors…) resolutely contemporary.
