Villa Agra

A tight site in a neighborhood of private residences made the façade a very blank, bold and clean statement. As a functional structure, the basement took the cars and the services, the ground took public functions, first took the private domain and top took the intensive servant back up. At the level of a foot print, the house enclosed a large central garden that gave all rooms view and light. The house projects a distinct skyline which is contributed by bold wooden facades.

Archohm focuses on innovation and fresh design to meet new urban challenges through a designer residence to give the high profile residential neighborhood of Agra a distinct skyline and vocabulary. The bold façade of a wooden square of thirty feet that gives the house a clean and contemporary look. An introverted layout with a central courtyard that lends controlled light and view to this private residence. An outer blank shell of wood and inner perforated skin of white and glass complement each other. This is large house with different spaces that are interconnected and flow into each other. The house is a complex composition of spaces that flow into each other. A play of views is developed through fenestrations placed strategically as north lights, top lights and structural glazing.

The route is designed as a story that unfolds dramatically. The house builds itself into an introverted theme which converges with a central courtyard. Ramping up and along the blank façade to a sixteen foot high door, then through a top lit long and narrow passage, one arrives into the double height entrance foyer with a floating glass bridge.Spaces that open onto a luch green courtyard. Formal entertainment spaces on one side and private sleeping zone on the other define and shade the courtyard.
