Villa MG — An Inhabited Monolith of Concrete, Timber and Light

On a 2,000 m² plot, Villa MG unfolds 1,500 m² of built space as a composition of stacked, shifted volumes, each asserting its own materiality: a glazed base open to the garden, board-formed concrete boxes with exposed formwork grain, and a dark timber-slatted casket cantilevered above the entrance. Long floating slabs stretch the horizontals; the house appears to hover above its own reflection.

Garden side, the villa opens fully onto a mirror pool edged in black granite. A sunken lounge set within the water, a sculptural olive tree and a fire bowl compose a domestic landscape in constant dialogue with the pool. Timber soffits, underlined with LED lines, extend the warmth of the interiors beneath the night sky.

Inside, a double-height living hall is organised around a travertine mass holding the fireplace, beneath a dark timber-beamed ceiling from which a cascade of blown-glass globes descends. The formal dining room gathers a live-edge walnut table under an alabaster chandelier; the kitchen is ordered around a monolithic Rosso Levanto marble island, set against charred-timber cabinetry and a slatted ceiling.

The lower level is the project's secret room: an indoor lap pool beneath a fibre-optic starry ceiling, naturally lit by a sunken courtyard planted with a centenary olive tree and lush vegetation, facing a fully glazed gym. The bathrooms extend this material radicality — a bathtub carved from a basalt block against corten and backlit onyx walls, or a travertine basin beneath a luminous brass-coffered triangulated ceiling.

The building permit has been granted; construction will begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
