Vista House is a small home for a family of 4 who are quite big on hosting. The open plan living/dining/kitchen allows for that, together with a side pavilion with an al fresco space. Conceptually, the design breaks up the building mass into 3 volumes ( a white, a black and a concrete box), that come together to enclose a series of communal spaces (eg, living, dining, family, kitchen etc) of which the family lounge becomes the most important one.

This space is positioned to enjoy the vista that offers a view out from the front and rear through the gap between the neighboring houses. Airwells and courtyard are further carved into the 3 volumes to introduce daylight and ventilation into the spaces within. The different skin treatments of the 3 volumes each address the tropical climate in different ways, from screening out the sun, to permitting cross breeze, to framing and allowing views of the surrounding greenery.
