Our project suggests establishing an extension in the continuity of the volume of the existing building, established on the former foundations of the abbey, in the joint between city and park, to serve a maximum of access from the park or from the city…

The facade on the city remains globally unchanged: a shop window is planned on the street of LaBaguette” in the location of a former arc, which comes to mean the revival of the museum and to reveal its contents to all, in a spirit of pedagogy wanted by his initiator.

The extension shelters the new vertical circulations of the museum " in a tower of stones " which is at the same time a museographic course and allows to discover the archaeological module of the museum, associated with the ruins of the abbey, the other archaeological remains to the public.

The material of the works piled and put under glass makes the facade, establishing a continuity of material with the existing building, in freestone. Foundations of the former city constitute foundations of the new museum.

Every level corresponds to a different atmosphere:

At the ground floor, there is the "Museum", where the Greek, Roman, Egyptian and oriental collections are the object of a specific direction which the tenuous lighting highlights the presence and the beauty of the works.

In the 1st floor, the building shelters " collector's apartment ". The type of exhibition of the works remind us the cabinet of curiosity. The visit is made on a passage slightly unstuck from the ground so establishing a remote stake of the work. This passage deforms to welcome cartels, shop window didactic tables.

Finally at attic level," the room of the studies» develop an atmosphere based on the idea of accessible reserves. The global route so establishes a loop circuit closed, without necessity of review.
