PROGRESS PROFILES CONQUERS IL SALOTTO DI MILANO

Laying systems, membranes and precious finishes of Progress Profiles

adorn the new restaurant of the Chef Carlo Cracco

A few months Chef Carlo Cracco opened the doors of his first restaurant in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, in the heart of Milan.

The project of the multi-storey building was born from the desire to create a harmonious combination between tradition and innovation, choosing a retro style, mild and refined, distinctive of ilSalotto di Milano of late 19th century.

This sense of belonging to the city is reflected in the careful choice of decors, colors and materials used with close attention to the precious finishes, essential to give a touch of elegance to the environments.

Different products of Progress Profiles, a major Italian manufacturer of technical and decorative finishing profiles and membranes for construction and interior design, were selected to assure this aesthetic perfection in the finishes and in the laying of coatings and floors. Although the membranes and the laying system are no longer visible, the profiles are extremely functional in all the three kitchens (bistro, restaurant and patisserie); while, they give harmony and refinement in the services on the ground floor and on the first floor.

Prodeso Membrane and Proleveling System were installed for the creation of the flooring: the first product is a special uncoupling membrane that allows a laying of tiles without cuts and without joints in the support, drastically reducing construction times. Proleveling System instead, is a revolutionary system that ensures perfect floorings with absolute flatness without height differences, irreplaceable for laying coatings in kitchens and bathrooms.

In every kitchen of the building there are Proshell and Prointer in satined stainless steel: two cove-shaped profiles suitable for ensuring hygiene and easy cleaning, adapted for contact with food. Moreover, stainless steel profiles Projolly, Projolly Quart and the L-shaped profile Proterminal, were used to protect the external angles of coatings.

In the dining rooms, the natural brass of finishings dominates and gives elegance to every ambience. Procarpet permits to joint carpet to the pavement, also with different thickness, with no interruption and preserving the borders. Proterminal instead, separates and protects different flooring, adding a golden effect.

This unique and theatrical atmosphere proves that quality finishes can donate harmony, elegance and charm to the environments, guaranteeing functionality of the best materials made in Italy.

Cracco in Galleria is the latest project by award-winning chef Carlo Cracco and is a luxury restaurant in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, in Milan. The project, the work of architects Laura Sartori Rimini and Roberto Peregalli of the Peregalli firm, is on 5 floors and includes a café with bistro, a restaurant, a winery and a private events room, all combined in the same facility. Marazzi ceramic and stoneware tiles were chosen for all the location’s kitchens (found on every floor) and the washrooms. The iconic Triennale – the “four curve” tile designed for Marazzi by Gio Ponti and Alberto Rosselli in the ‘60s – covers all the kitchen walls. The collection, in the SistemC Architettura version, was chosen in the Avorio, Ocra and Nero colours and dialogues with the Mystone Lavagna Nero 30x60 stone-effect stoneware installed on the floors. The washrooms, on the other hand, are in the refined Allmarble marble-effect in the two Saint Laurent and Statuario finishes, providing a fine example of how stoneware and marble can dialogue to exquisite effect in the architectural restoration of a conservation-listed historic building.
