A 1913 dispatching warehouse for flax thread on the River Leie in Kortrijk will be the location for the renewed Flax Museum. This building is on ‘Overleie’, the other side of the river, not far from the city centre. This rather inconspicuous brick warehouse has a typical interior of cast-iron pillars and beams. In order to accommodate the requirements for the museum, an additional shed is to be built on the roof as a logical extension of the industrial construction. The grid of steel pillars is extended upwards and the beams are laid across them diagonally at varying heights. In rethinking a 7-storey office building for a leading agricultural trading company, we envision a new workplace experience by approaching the design with a concept of the ‘rice terrace’ that becomes an architectural embodiment of the company’s philosophy and business operation. Due to various site restrictions such as setback regulations, height limits, and the unusual site boundary, it became necessary for the architectural massing to be efficient in order to fulfill the functional requirements of the company. The new house for an extended family is located on the same property as the owner's old home. The two residences stand in a parallel orientation and are separated by a swimming pool, which exists as a part of the original residential program. This communal area also connects, and at the same time contributes, to the visual divide between the two residences. It lessons the congestion of the program and allows for the family members to see and interact with each other. The 9 500 m² laboratory and logistics building houses shared research facilities and is home to the Clinical Biochemistry Division, which annually supplies around nine million blood tests to the hospital and GPs. In addition, the building is made up of test rooms, laboratories, offices, as well as a warehouse with associated logistic and storage functions. Various articles are distributed to the rest of the hospital via tunnels running from the basement area. The wide staircase that winds up through the middle of the structure forms the backbone of the building – and acts as a social, fluid space that provides coherence and overview. The Sky Clubhouse is a small building facility for the dwellers in a residential projects in the suburb of Bangkok, Thailand. This project is served as the functional building for this private housing project, which consists of a small gym on the upper floor, interior living space and exterior areas for multi-purpose activities. With the limited space, the main idea of the project is to create the open and continuous space that can connect between not only inside and outside but also below and upper levels. The programme of this competition, won in 2008 by Hamonic + Masson & Associés architects, was to reconstruct the Marne departmental archives annexe, situated in the French city of Reims. The new construction is located opposite the old building, and the project was completed and delivered by Hamonic + Masson & Associés in 2014. The project concerns the twentieth century’s building renovation, fitted in a series of buildings arranged in a linear way along a very busy public street. Behind them, narrow and long lots, separate the buildings from the railway. The renovation and extension project tried to recover the volumetry still avaiable on the lot, adding a new trapeziodal plant volume on the courtyard’s side. So the extension’s shape results from the orientation of the railway’s limit. The United Nations affiliated World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmo, Sweden has been completed. In collaboration with Kim Utzon Arkitekter we won the project in 2011 after a 3-stage international competition. This collaboration continued throughout all stages of the project to completion. In urban terms the building was conceived as a spatial "hinge” that marked a transition point on the street extending from the old town of Malmo to the harbour area where the building is sited.
