Casa Emma

EMMA HOUSE  We had heard a lot about the Paula Rego Museum, designed by Eduardo Souto de Moura, and a few years ago we had the opportunity to visit it. Upon entering the museum, we were immediately moved. Beneath one of the pyramids, we were enveloped by a sense of awe and indescribable serenity.  Cesar Bejar Light filtered gently through a high skylight, cascading like golden rays on the museum’s surfaces. It felt as if every corner of the building was bathed in soft, velvety, warm light that touched everything and brought it to life. The way the light descended from those ceilings was soothing, creating shadows and reflections that danced all over the walls and floors. I remember us feeling immediately embraced and... More

CASA RL

“Casa RL” is a very special project, because it is a commission for my older brother and his family. The place is located in the town of Cholul, a suburban area of the city of Mérida, with an area of 1,300 m2. Rhuo Arquitectos The family's request was very clear, to give priority to the social area, a lot of vegetation and have Yucatecan character in the design. These premises are integrated into the project taking advantage of the length of the land and incorporating a series of visual punchlines towards the gardens at all times. Rhuo Arquitectos Rhuo Arquitectos In the design process, an “L” scheme was chosen which allows us to package the services and the private area in the left wing and... More

Casa en el cielo

Casa en el cielo is located in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. The project design proposal is born from the user's needs and the inclined topography of the land, which will define the main access on the first level; generating a private space on the ground floor that is made up of a bedroom and a bathroom illuminated and ventilated by a private patio. Caption Caption Caption Caption The combination of materials creates an atmosphere of warm and clean environments that favor the visual finishes that are found throughout the project: Gray tones that contrast with the oak wood, as well as the use of proportions in the geometry of the project such as the golden section that can be found in various spaces of the project. Ecatepec Bicentennial Park

Design has the power to fix the broken city and foster sustainable cities and communities. Bicentennial Park is an example. Set in Ecatepec, with 1.64 million inhabitants, this 20 Ha public space has been refurbished in attendance to the inaccessibility, insecurity, land erosion, and lack of maintenance it suffered. Situated in the hillside of Sierra Guadalupe, this place was surrounded by a fence with only four entrances. The intention to cover its surface with non endemic “lawn” only provoked severe land erosion and floods down hill. Uncontrolled bushes grew, blocking crossed views, making it subject to crime and used as a trash dump.  Rafael Gamo Rafael Gamo The park has been transformed into a landscape infra... More

Arcano House

Merged into a wooded site to the outside of Morelia, Michoacán, this vacation home emerges from the idea to create a shelter that respectfully dialogues with its immediate context. Through this, the building emerges from the site and converts into a visual echo from the surroundings. The single-story dwelling takes advantage from the length and sloped topography from the site, sitting the house above the ground, giving the sensation that it floats in the middle of the trees. César Belio César Belio César Belio On front façade, the house closes from the exterior and presents to the user as a solid and latent platform that is integrated to the environment. This volume stands out by its flatne... More

Yukón

Being located on a road of this nature faces particularities such as noise and visual pollution, which encouraged us to generate very specific architectural and structural solutions. The complexity and challenge of this project lie in the fact that it is located on the side of the Miguel Alemán viaduct on the corner of the small Yukon Street.  Camila Cossio - Jaime Navarro Camila Cossio - Jaime Navarro The building is developed as a slender volume of apparent concrete which integrates its columns as a façade, envelope, and dividing walls, making each square meter more efficient. The façade responds to a viaduct with the proposal of a double skin that is an irregular grid that changes randomly, creating a... More

FRONDAL

With a site of moderately marked topography, this house adapts and permeates very well with its context. It was conceptualized under the premise of seeking a single level in the majority of the house, making it a discreet and private project. It moves in a square shape in such a way that we prioritize the view and green areas for social areas and we propose a body for the bedrooms that generates privacy and is oriented towards the South. Both elements are subtly isolated by a common patio. Arturo Arrieta Arturo Arrieta Under this criterion we contain the public spaces and green areas and organically the composition functions as a division between the other houses. The architecture in the social area presents a modular system of r... More

El Salitre Community Center

The methodology proposed for the El Salitre Community Center in Zapotlanejo proposes the midpoint between the technical and artisanal processes that come together in the architectural work. The project assumes the construction of a building as a collective activity and understands the work as an experimental production process, where efficiency is achieved by saving resources through its adaptation. It is a space destined for the farming community of La Mora, characterized by the strong economic and social impact derived from the migration to the United States. This is a social responsibility project commissioned by an energy company aimed to strengthen the long-term relationship with the community.  César Belio Cé... More

Chocolatería San Gines Mexico

The Chocolatería San Ginés franchise project in CDMX focused on adapting the Spanish business to a contemporary and local Mexican context. Jaime Navarro   The façade consists of a lattice made up of concrete pieces integrating a green wall, which allows light to enter the terrace with a wooden pergola, isolating itself from the urban context, controlling what is seen from the inside to the outside and vice versa. Hector Velasco Inside, the existence of an old myrtle tree is respected, integrating into the covered terrace, accompanied by two olive trees placed around the office. Terraza Roma

ROMA Rooftop comprises an outdoor space transformed into the rooftop of an existing residential building, which seeks to create a calm and habitable space for the upper terrace of an apartment in Mexico City's Roma neighborhood. The project is developed by two main spaces, the first one gives continuity to the roof-access through a sequence of massive walls creating a corridor that gives increased privacy with a distinct scale, while also being the home to the greenery. Those walls were covered with a mix of paints and pigments to achieve a rusty finish, envisioned as an urban ruin. Design strategy was considered to integrate low-maintenance materials and finishes that would age well and could resist inclement weather, which improves the p... More

Restaurante Urbane México

The main feature of this project is dynamism, both spatial and formal.Behind a rectangular volume there are many sloping lines. Surprises along the way are the result. Ethelett Distribution. The Urbane Mexico restaurant is on a corner, between a main street and a secondary one. Local regulations require not to build in a five-meter strip on the front of the property. We used this space as parking and access. We occupied the remaining surface with the two-level restaurant. The ground floor dining area occupies a third of this level. The rest is made up of the lobby, the toilets, and the kitchen with its support areas. The upper floor only has dining area. We separated the restaurant a few meters from the rear limit.
