Yoozoo is a contemporary bubble tea shop located in a colonial building, thoughtfully designed to offer a unique sensory journey. The contrast between the historic architecture and the minimalist intervention is accentuated by a softly lit polycarbonate tunnel that blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces.
Although compact, the space becomes a stage where modern aesthetics and functionality converge. From the street, its discreet façade stands out for its clean and orderly design, animated by a vibrant sign that attracts passers-by and invites them to discover what lies inside.
The tunnel itself is the heart of the establishment, here, customers are invited to interact with the space not only by selecting their preferred bubble tea flavors and creating personalized combinations, but also by capturing moments within this illuminated setting, which naturally lends itself to selfies. In this way, Yoozoo extends the act of ordering a drink into a ritual of participation and discovery.
At the core of the project, the polycarbonate tunnel acts as a defining element: a place where people move seamlessly between ordering, waiting, and experiencing the atmosphere. Polycarbonate was chosen as the primary material not only for its accessibility and ease of use, but also as a pragmatic response to the scale of the project and the limited time frame available for its construction. This choice proved to be more than practical, it became a distinctive visual and conceptual device. Together with Yoozoo’s colorful identity and the futuristic quality of the material, polycarbonate has evolved into an essential part of the brand’s visual discourse and a hallmark of its architectural language.
The proposal ultimately revolves around two key elements: colour and shape. On one side, a wide variety of flavours and personalised combinations encourage experimentation and celebrate diversity. On the other, the use of polycarbonate and rounded geometries (present in both the tunnel entrance and the circular opening of the service window) define a distinctive spatial identity and reinforce the contemporary, almost futuristic character of the project.
More than just a bubble tea shop, Yoozoo offers a journey that combines flavour, colour, and form. By transforming a small footprint into a stage for interaction, it positions itself as a refreshing destination that transcends its walls and enriches the bustling urban landscape of Mexico City.
