White Orchid Pavilion: Exhibition and Display

An everyday living aesthetic gallery is, at its essence, a brand experience for real estate developers. It is a type of exhibition building, in which the goods displayed are the houses, property, and services to be sold by developers. We approached this project as if it was an enlarged exhibit booth, with White Orchid Pavilion as a particularly unique display space. When visitors walk by the “booth”, the functionality aspect of the building is weakened, and they perceive the abstract blocks on the booth; that is, the exhibit items we want to present. Dachou Photography Dachou Photography Yuyao City is rich in orchids. The “booth’s” appearance and color happen to coincide with the orchid’s sense... More

Distant lights

ULTRATHINING Sines  A strange moment for the town of Sines to host Distant Lights, the rich work of Nuno Cera – a quasi-native of the place and someone who has travelled extensively, eyes wide open around the world. We are living a moment in history where the path of fossil energies has again made a turn … back, as the dramatic Ukrainian war seems to bifurcate towards an already confirmed anthropocentric destruction. How much Sines is reacting positively or negatively to this turn is unknown to us, but Nuno’s Distant Lights might have a broader and more urgent reach than what he initially imagined when starting the creative process of the exhibition, before the Ukrainian war. ©NunoCera The title of the s... DIVIDED

A huge, luminous sphere of an intense red color, split in two identical halves. Each half is caged within a metal structure built with the kind of scaffolding commonly used in construction.  Ruben PB Viewers can traverse the space between the two halves, immersing in a light-filled corridor, and effectively becoming part of the artwork itself. Ruben PB This metaphor of our planet aims to shed light upon the significance of the relations between the earth’s dwellers. At the core of the project lays the idea that, if differences would be understood not as separation but as complementarity, mutual rejection could be more easily laid aside, and the qualities of one element would emphasize those of the other. VEXed + Voided : Two Acts

Act I : An exhibition pavilion to showcase competition entries to the 2018 International Design Competition, organized by the Association of Siamese Architects (ASA). The pavilion embraces the annual competition theme VEX: Agitated Vernacular, by subjecting wood, the themed material, to abrasive processes of peeling & sanding, charring, or burning.  The vexed wood is then hand-crafted: rough-sawn, stacked, and tied, to form two black & white cubic geometries that host the exhibition materials. Charcoal, mixed with leftover wood from the processes, is contained in multiple cubic gabion baskets for area seating. Conventional fabrication and vernacular construction techniques merge with contemporary ones to become the new vernacul... More

Urban Bridge

Urban Bridge is a proposal for designing a new bridge connecting two significant parts of Isfahan city. Isfahan being both the capital city of Iran and its growth into Zayandehrud, the largest river of the Iranian Plateau, multiple bridges were built in this area in the past, all of which served as socializing places and cultural hubs for Iranians and visitors alike. These bridges were originally designed to connect two or more cities or villages. Still, new uses have been integrated to create a proper context for social interactions in addition to creating a link between the Zayandeh River's two sides. Due to the rising need for vehicle traffic in the recent years and the transformation of urban spaces, the spatial quality of bridges began... More
