Beach hotel design

Located on the southern coast of Tobago, the project proposes the development of a resort embedded within a natural landscape characterized by white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and extensive coastal mangroves. The master plan begins with a clear premise: allowing the existing landscape to structure the development while introducing an architecture that settles lightly within the territory through a minimal and respectful intervention. Our task was to create a dream hotel on a limited coastal plot. The place where the ocean meets the sky and the wildness of nature intertwines with the centuries-old traditions of Bali became a source of inspiration and at the same time determined the architectural solutions. We wanted each room to offer guests a panoramic view of the ocean, and the building itself to blend organically into the surrounding landscape. MWA Architecture developed a prototype hotel room for a project located on the island of Rhodes.The design challenge was to incorporate local techniques and materials, respecting the spirit of the place and its traditions. As in nature, the beauty of the space is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.” Caption White tones, a calming atmosphere and the use of local materials evoke an immediate sense of summer.Traditional plastering methods, handcrafted finishes and locally sourced stone were chosen to ground the space in its Mediterranean context.
