Home Low

This Bondi residence underwent two seperate renovations, both of which were designed by Sydney's Catherine de Meur Interiors. The first part of the project encorporated a refresh of the ground floor, a renovation which included the kitchen, lounge, laundry and powder room.  The objective of Home Low Phase One was to freshen and update with a focus on lifestyle awareness and flow within the home. Home Low  Stage Two was a larger project incorporating the upper level of the house, inclusive of two bathrooms, three bedrooms and a multi-purpose dressing room / office. The client envisioned a tranquil and sophisticated space with a focus on texture and ease. This private residence features the Fizi Wall Sconce, a Fizi Triple Ball Penda... More

Quay West Hotel Lobby

Articolo's Double Ball Pendant and Double Ball Wall Sconce feature in the Quay West Hotel & Residential Tower refurbishment in Southbank. Nestled in the heart of Melbourne's arts precinct, the Quay West building refurbishment designed by CoLAB Studio draws cues from the iconic interiors of the neighbouring  Arts Centre and Hamer Hall. The interior juxtaposes purity of form and honesty of artisan craftsmanship to create a poignant design contribution to this special pocket of Melbourne's art and design soul. The Fizi collection is mesmerising with the explosion of bubbles suspended in champagne’sque effervescence. Breathtaking shadow play when Fizi is lit. Wall and ceiling jewellery for the home.  Photography... More

Flinders Residence

Lavishly endowed with glowing Australian timber and limestone, this home has a robust but luxe materials palette "from the earth", says Abe McCarthy of Abe McCarthy Architects. Abe collaborated with interior designer Alice Villella of AV-ID, custom builders Gstruct Group and landscaper Barber Design to establish this warm, inviting family home embedded in open pastures on the Mornington Peninsula.WHAT WAS THE CLIENT’S BRIEF?Abe McCarthy: We had worked with our client, a couple with a growing family, on two prior residential renovations. The essence of the idea of a dream home for them, a new build on the Flinders site, was conceived some years ago. Work began on an initial concept in 2013 to a brief centred on the creation of a family... More

Annandale House

'Baldwin & Bagnall explore light and scale in the contemporary refresh of a renovated terrace in Sydney’s inner-western suburb of Annandale. Heath Baldwin & Hayden Bagnall are the names behind Baldwin & Bagnall, a Sydney-based multi-disciplinary design practice specialising in bespoke interiors. They were the ideal candidates for taking on the Annandale House; last renovated in the 1980s, lacking in access to natural light and an adequate floorplan. Approached by the client with a clear vision for a modern and comfortable interior, Baldwin & Bagnall needed to demolish the majority of the home and start from scratch. A tedious reshuffle to the home’s layout gave Baldwin & Bagnall the opportunity... More

Portsea House

'A previously dated but solidly built 90’s style house with ‘good bones’ has been renovated with minimal structural changes but with a comprehensive interior design program. Our clients purchased a large, solidly built and well-located beach house. However, the kitchen was impractical, the large bar unnecessary and the finishes were colourful – the house had the sensibility of a 90’s office interior rather than a home near the beach. Our repeat clients trusted we would give the house a more relaxed and warm feel as well as creating practical spaces for a family that likes to cook and entertain.  As the house was quite large we had sufficient space to enlarge the kitchen and include the client’s sele... Arch-Texture

It is not a coincidence that the word ‘Arch’ is found in both ‘Arch-itecture’ and ‘Arch-aic’.1 In recent times there has been a resurgence in the use of the ‘Arch’ in architectural forms throughout the world.  Why? Most likely as the result of a generational ebb and flow in our cultural relationship to our collective history; a youthful break with our past replaced with a mature revaluation. Modernism emerged from the conformist historicism of the Victorian era and sought to euthanise that past architectural narrative, and so few arches were visible in its rigid Euclidian geometry.  However, following the excesses of the Second World War a melancholic reappearance of a veiled neocla... Apartment 06

Situated on the third floor of a classic Grade-II Listed building in West London, this apartment is set across what was once four separate houses. The expansive lateral layout emphasises the extraordinary sense of space.  The living areas communicate through sets of large double doors, so the space can feel private when necessary, but also has a sociable, open flow to it.  The rooms are punctuated with charismatic pockets of colour: a rich brown in the sitting room and subtle peach emerging in the dining room.  Marble and touches of burnished brass are combined with rich fabrics including bouclé, velvet and wool to enhance the sense of feminine elegance and comfort.    For this residential project an Artico... Hill House by Decus Interiors

Timeless with a twist. Melding a classic yet contemporary interior from which to appreciate a jaw-dropping view of the city skyline, this family home was designed to last a lifetime. Responding to a brief for the ultimate in quality of finishes and furnishings whilst mindfully avoiding a gallery of showpieces, we grounded our aesthetic in the European inflexion of the architectural language. Layering an energetic and warm palette with the selection of playful art, we balanced fine materiality and specification of timeless bespoke furniture pieces, to carefully shape a resounding sense of home for this busy family of six.   Words - Decus InteriorsArchitecture - Luigi Rosselli ArchitectsBuilder - Critharis ConstructionPhotography - An... Hawthorne House 01

Located at the peak of the hill, in the prestigious suburb Hawthorne, with spectacular 360 degree views of Brisbane, including an undisrupted view of the river and CBD. The client, who has resided in the 4 storey home for a decade, engaged Cg Design Studio to undertake an extensive renovation of the interior and exterior. This process included reconfiguring interior spaces, reimaging the once subdued and heavy dwelling, into a light, luxurious and chic home with the atmosphere of an exclusive hotel. The Cg team expanded upon the subtle curves in the architecture to soften the existing hard lines, expressed in details such as the statement brass kitchen island bench, tiled ensuite shower ceiling, as well as curved bulkheads and staircase...
