Tangerine House

Planned for a couple of young doctors, Tangerine House is a 220 m2 residence lodged in an elongated and narrow plot, surrounded by neighbors, in the Alto da Lapa neighborhood in São Paulo, Brazil. The aim was to design ample and permeable integrated spaces, offering a contemporary approach to urban living.  Firstly, the columns were moved to the lateral limits of the plot, allowing for a free open plan throughout its length. In collaboration with a calculist engineer: beams, hydraulic systems and other infrastructure elements were also shifted to the perimeter of the structure, preserving the visual purity of the apparent concrete slab.  miti sameshima The entrance on the ground floor leads to an atrium that traverse... Perry Vale House

Perry Vale House is a bold and imaginative reinvention of a semi-detached Edwardian home in Forest Hill, south east London. Designed by Wellstudio Architecture for a young family, this striking extension breaks away from generic rear-addition typologies to create something deeply personal, sculptural, and wellness-led.  Chris Snook Rooted in a contemporary reinterpretation of the Arts & Crafts movement, the design fuses traditional craftsmanship with an expressive modern language of arches, curves and natural light. The result is a space that feels serene, soulful, and seamlessly connected to the home’s heritage and the lives of the people within it. The founder of idieq, architect Saubhagya, along with his team, envisioned creating an ideal living space. Their choice of site was deliberate: the very grounds where their ancestral house stood, steeped in memories and familial ties. Determined to preserve their roots, the couple embarked on a journey to reimagine their dwelling, blending modern comforts with ecological consciousness. Saramagal House

Starting from an empty lot, in a neighbourhood without a defined identity, the result of a suburban context resulting from the absence of territorial policies for decades on the outskirts of Lisbon, it's like starting a process of metamorphosis, without harming the surroundings. We also know that our intervention will have an impact on the cohesion of the urban fabric, and the visual quality of this neighbourhood, and as such, we saw this responsibility as an opportunity to do things better and differently, always keeping in mind what we were asked to do: design a modern house that takes advantage of the landscape that characterizes this place. Big-Little House

Big-Little House is a small house with a small footprint built on a small plot but with large volumes. What makes this house large? One-fourth of the 1500 square foot plot is empty and left unbuilt for a garden. All the major living spaces, viz., the double-height living room, the family space, the dining, and the kitchen, are tied together by the fact that they all inhabit a large volume that overlooks the garden. Arjun Krishna Photography Arjun Krishna Photography Arjun Krishna Photography The car park was deliberately lowered in height such that the kitchen and dining that sit over it remain connected to the garden volume. This configuration led to split levels on the upper levels, which in turn helped bring down the over... More
