Set in the wooded surroundings of Hollandsche Rading in the Dutch province of Utrecht, Black Gemstone was designed by MONK Architecten BNA as a dark, folded volume among the trees. The facades and roof planes flow visually into one another, giving the house the character of a black gemstone. Behind this form is a sustainability strategy centered on extensive timber construction, reduced energy demand, renewable energy generation, and durable materials that can be maintained selectively. Right next to it, lies Kvitfjell ski resort - one of the most renowned ski resorts in Norway, 50 kilometers north of Lillehammer. The old Neumann's Villa in Gliwice, Poland has been modernised inside and outside. The architect brought new life to the old building, that before World War II belonged to Artur Neumann, the heir to a large printing company in pre-war Gliwice. Throughout the years the building served different purposes. The current owner is the Water and Severage Company and it uses the Villa as an office building.The new look of Neumann's Villa is pure white. It looks amazing surrounded by natural greenery.
