Marhûs, a timber dwelling designed by Lichtstad Architecten, is shaped by a deep engagement with craftsmanship and its surrounding landscape on the Frisian Lakes in the Netherlands. Named after the Frisian words “Mar” (lake) and “hûs” (house), the project reflects a strong connection to its waterside context, grounding the architecture in place and local identity. Positioned along the shore of a lake and flanked by two small harbors, the project features a mature garden, a reed-fringed quay, and an extended jetty. This solid wood house for a young family was built on a steep slope in the Styrian Thermal Region. Deep black on the outside, the contrast surprises as soon as you step inside: airy, bright, with lots of light from the sides and from above. The house fits in harmoniously with its surroundings. Concept 180 apartments & commercial plinth | Amsterdam   Extraordinary life in a green landscape at any altitude Mountain Valley, or MoVa for short, owes its name to the combination of “Mountains” and “Valleys”. The Mountain takes its shape by allowing the masses to bounce back at every level. This creates an outdoor space per layer that is divided into private, semi-public and public. The summerhouse is located on a small rocky island of lake Suontee.There is an existing small fishing cabin built by previous generations in the 1960’s as well as a sauna building from the 1980’s on the island. When the fishing cabin became too small for the client, the decision was made to build a new summerhouse that would better serve island living. A family of two adults and three children living in a house in Paris approached the firm to design a vertical extension with a roof terrace for their home.    The existing residential property is a combination of an existing house, owned completely by our clients, and a small housing building connected to the house by a room per floor.
