Selva houses explore the possibility of reconciling everyday urban life with a more immediate experience of nature. Located in Alto de Pinheiros, one of São Paulo’s traditional garden neighborhoods, the project comprises eight detached houses conceived as individual dwellings immersed in a continuous landscape. The architecture is organized around the presence of vegetation, treated not as a backdrop but as an active part of the spatial experience. Developed in collaboration with the landscape designer Caterina Poli, the garden introduces native species around the swimming pool, along the circulation areas, and into the visual field of the interiors, reinforcing the sense of living within a planted environment. The condominium is composed of four houses located in Abuxarda, Portugal, developed from a layout that seeks to take advantage of the topography, solar exposure, and the existing natural surroundings. The ensemble presents itself as a contemporary architectural composition, marked by overlapping horizontal volumes, large glazed surfaces, spacious terraces, and a constant relationship between interior and exterior. The placement of the four residential units was designed in a staggered manner, allowing each house to benefit from privacy, open views, and its own outdoor areas, while maintaining the formal coherence of the whole. What began as a four-day assignment extended over a month as Malaysia’s rainy season brought constant uncertainty and changing conditions.
