The Earth Crew Headquarters

Three stacked boxes rest on a floating platform above Bangkok's narrow street, lifted to create a quieter working environment away from the bustle below, while opening up views and allowing for nine parking spaces underneath.

The decision to divide the building into three separate boxes responds to the tight urban condition of the site. Rather than creating one large, monolithic mass along the narrow and busy street, the smaller volumes break down the scale of the building and allow more light to reach the surrounding neighborhood. This makes the building feel less imposing and friendlier in scale for the people living around it.

The building is painted white to keep its appearance light and reduce the sense of mass, while also keeping construction economical. The platform extends beyond the entrance, casting shade and reinforcing the sense that the structure has left the ground. The elements below the platform use darker, heavier-toned materials, creating a clear contrast between the grounded base and the lighter boxes above.

The façade incorporates customized aluminum grooving, a practical detail used to control cracking on the exterior walls. Here, the groove is enlarged and repeated at a specific dimension, giving the otherwise simple white surfaces a subtle rhythm. A necessary construction detail becomes part of the façade itself.

Each box holds a separate function: a residence, an office and a public meeting space, connected by a tucked glass gathering space. The solidity, transparency and position of each box respond to the privacy of what is inside. The residence sits at the top as a solid enclosure. The office opens fully to view. The meeting space falls between. Three volumes create a gradual transition from public to private, while keeping each function clearly defined within the overall composition.

Inside, the ceiling heights vary according to the activities within each box. The spaces used by guests and customers have unusually high ceilings, creating a more generous and open interior. At night, the solid boxes become less visible as the interiors are illuminated, shifting the perception of the building from solid volumes to glowing light-filled spaces.

The Earth Crew HQ occupies 460 square meters in Din Daeng, Bangkok.
