Massy Conservatory of Dance, Music & Theater

Eugeni PonsThe conservatoire lies on a road linking Massy opera house to a park. The tall apartment buildings that surround it seem to step back to give the conservatoire space. Indeed, only once you have walked well along the street Rue des Canadiens do you discover, almost surprised, the brick-toned, cube-like edifice. At first glace, the compactness of this block-like building does not suggest the true extent and complexity of its spaces inside. Eugeni Pons Eugeni Pons Eugeni Pons The presence of an ailanthus tree prompted us to distort the building’s facade, which curves inwards to leave space for this remarkable tree with its abundance of foliage. Indeed, the shape of the edifice seems altered by the very pr... More

VRAY

Designing four entities of the music conservatory distributed across three distinct sites within a landscaped ensemble open to the public.A facility that strikes a balance between enhancing what already exists and implementing the transformations required for the functioning of the new program. The landscape project adopts a minimal intervention, enabling an intuitive, natural, and territorially grounded reading of the site. Galerie Blanche The orangery, set within the footprint of the former greenhouse, together with the new connecting gallery between the two pavilions, features a low-profile volume. It does not alter the perspective of the main axis and preserves the isolated character of the pavilion. The auditorium is embedded into... More

Velvet Concrete

Velvet Concrete is a residential interior located in Zabłocie — a post-industrial district of Kraków undergoing rapid transformation. The project reinterprets this industrial heritage through material logic and spatial clarity, rather than through obvious aesthetic references. ANNA GRUSZKOWSKA ANNA GRUSZKOWSKA ANNA GRUSZKOWSKA The design is based on a continuous spatial flow, where boundaries between zones are defined only by transparent architectural elements: full-height glass partitions, mirrored arcs and subtle shifts in textures. This strategy preserves openness and allows natural and artificial light to act as shaping devices — modelling depth, direction and hierarchy. Materiality provides the main... More

Roof construction Bellariastraße, Vienna

Luxury flats with high-quality interior and exterior spaces in heritage-protected architecture.A loft in a centrally located residential building was converted to create three premium freehold and rental flats with outside spaces. The building is part of a historical ensemble between the famous Ringstrasse and the Natural History Museum. The flats all have a conservatory that affords a spectacular view of Vienna’s historical centre. The large hinged windows, which can be tilted outwards to open fully, add extra space to the interior and create a connection to the outside without interfering too much with the roof landscape of the heritage-protected building.Lighting and ceiling heights are the two main challenges when converting a lof... Rehabiliation of the Conservatory of Versailles

To rehabilitate the auditorium of the Regional Conservatorium of Musicof Versailles, which has become dilapidated and restore it to the prestigeit deserves, the project consisted in adding new spaces to the existingvolume and giving the feeling that they are larger than they do not appearthere. UP THE ROOM FLOORThe major operation of the project was to raise the floor of the room by70cm so that it was accessible without steps. This makes the basementfully usable in order to install additional rehearsal studios. The clear heightalso makes it possible to achieve a very effective acoustic insulationbetween levels. The room has about 243 seats distributed between thefloor and the balcony. The conservatory now includes 7 rehearsal studios,a roo... More

SHANGYIN OPERA HOUSE

This new opera house is located on Fenyang and Huaihai Road. The building has a great public entrance at the corner of these two important streets of the historical French district. Rather than a massive unique building the opera is built as a sequence of pavilions, following the rhythm and the height of the existing architecture including, on Fenyang road the existing recent building of the conservatory. The color and texture of the pavilions is respecting a brick pattern aspect. The opera house belongs to the Conservatory of Shanghai. It provides to students and teachers a toll for practicing Opera in real condition. It is also conceived to be a high standard public hall for music, with a high level acoustical quality and international s... More
