Velvet Concrete is a residential interior located in Zabłocie — a post-industrial district of Kraków undergoing rapid transformation. The project reinterprets this industrial heritage through material logic and spatial clarity, rather than through obvious aesthetic references.
The design is based on a continuous spatial flow, where boundaries between zones are defined only by transparent architectural elements: full-height glass partitions, mirrored arcs and subtle shifts in textures. This strategy preserves openness and allows natural and artificial light to act as shaping devices — modelling depth, direction and hierarchy.
Materiality provides the main identity of the project. A mineral plaster with concrete-like structure forms a monolithic envelope. Within it, graphite built-ins and linear black detailing establish a calm architectural framework. Against this, warm brass accents, curved volumes and soft textiles introduce a refined contrast, softening the perception of the heavy base.
Key bespoke elements — such as the sculptural dining table, the carved wall composition in the bedroom or the expressive lighting pieces — function almost as architectural objects. These elements anchor each zone without interrupting the spatial continuity.
The conservatory and terrace extend the interior into greenery, maintaining the same material language and soft transitions of light. Visual permeability between the bedroom and bathing zone creates a hotel-like quality, while still remaining highly functional.
Velvet Concrete translates industrial legacy into a mature form of residential comfort: quietly luxurious, materially precise, and guided by light rather than decoration.
