Customized facades

Oxford North is a seven-story, 128-unit apartment development located at the intersection of Oxford Street and North Street in Halifax, NS, Canada. As the city continues to grow and peninsular neighborhoods mature, there is increasing demand for modern apartment accommodations that allow long-term residents to remain in familiar areas while transitioning to more efficient and comfortable housing. At the same time, new residential development is needed to attract additional residents and support neighborhood revitalization. Metadecor realized several building parts for this project on behalf of De Vries en Verburg. The façade of the office building is clad with MD Flack panels made of weather-resistant steel. The panels are attached with our MD Resto system, which contributes to the efficiency of the installation process. The mounting of the panels is invisible from the outside. The façade panels of the office are equipped with integrated nesting boxes for various species of birds and bats. During the first decade of 21st century and before the 2008 economic crisis, Madrid suburban areas were highly developed, and their residential capability were exploited to its maximum allowance. The intervention concerns the renovation of an historical building dating back to the early '900 and subjected to protection.The need to adapt the building to new needs led to the complete renovation of the interior spaces and the construction of a new volume located on the north-east front.
