Project. This exclusive villa in the south of France appears to virtually disappear into the endless blue of the Mediterranean. Being outside and enjoying a Mediterranean lifestyle while protected from the sun and wind was what the client stipulated. Around 30 meters above the sea, two awnings brave the marine climate, securely attached to two lance-shaped masts by spring hooks from a ship’s supplier. Concept/Design. The top design priority was to provide protection from sun and heat for the sizeable outdoor area. In the financial and commercial centre of the city is located this building neighbour of one of the best buildings of offices in Madrid (BBVA Building) With a markedly urban character it presents a magnificent opportunity to answer to the city in two very different scales: -an urban scale, represented by the most important street in Madrid: ‘El Paseo de la Castellana’. -and other more domestic scale, represented by a prominent square/plaza with a pedestrian character. Project. The previously inaccessible infrastructure area serving the Swiss Post Office and Swiss National Railway has been transformed into public street space, squares, and courtyards. Concept/Design. The building complex is formed from four structures grouped together around an open courtyard in the shape of a windmill sail. Each building was designed by a different architect so is therefore different in appearance, but bridges link the buildings and permit walkways on all the upper floor levels. This time frame is changing gradually, however. According to the lunar calendar, the time of pilgrimage is returning to the extremely hot summer months, making a sunshade absolutely essential. Project. The iconic Milford Plaza Hotel first opened in New York City’s theatre district in 1928. Today, it remains one of Manhattan’s largest hotels, and now includes an Internet café and coffee shop adorned with a Lightframe illuminated fabric wall backdrop from SEFAR® Architecture. Concept/Design. The Lightframe modules were built with SEFAR® Architecture’s IA-80-CL PVDF acoustic fabric that allows 80 percent light transmission. The light-technical and acoustic fabric provides echo absorption through its uncoated textile structure.
