The Green Court Residences is an unique apartment building unit in Budapest’s condominium architecture because of its volume and façade formulation. The architects designed the building based on elegancy and generosity required by the Client, which is most noticable by the moderate color-use, yet exciting façade geometry. The façade’s character is created by the balconies’ zigzag geometry. The apartments/studios each had to have an area of ​​20 m² to 60 m², including a private outdoor area. The latest university building "Pulse" creates new connections on the campus and the university, once again, sets new standards. For the facade, the architects from Ector Hoogstad Architecten opted for the VISS SG all-glass facade in structural glazing construction. ©Petra Appelhof The stability of the steel profiles allows for particularly filigree interior views. Located in the Minimes district, between the Canal du Midi and the Barrière de Paris neighborhood, the site forms a corner between avenue Frédéric Estèbe and rue Mengaud. The ground floors of the buildings along avenue des Minimes, mostly ranging from one to three storey buildings, are mainly occupied by shops. The client, a hydronic components and systems company, needed to renew its old offices and build a new structure to host workshops, conferences, workplaces, recreation activities and exhibitions, and that includes the loading bays too, as part of the logistics. It was a traditional town house, like so many others on the Maresme coast. It is a row house, with the main facade aligned to the street, dividing walls of mud and stone and a back patio. Despite of this, the house had two remarkable peculiarities. First, it incorporated two typological units on the same property. That is: instead of having a single bay of between 4 and 5 meters, as usual, it had two bays as part of it. For the architects it was a key concern for the architects to make the façade of the new visitor centre as transparent as possible. They succeeded in doing so with the thermally insulated VISS steel profile façade in 50 millimetre face width. The façade construction company H.O. Tasked with building only 950 Sq.Mt. on a site that would normally have been built out to 1500 Sq.Mt. meant that the project could be designed free from the need to conform to the outer setback line mandated by city planners. To this end, an internal brief was created - that 40% of the house must be a garden and 60% of the house must look into it. Hence the name, 40/60 House.
