For more than 25 years, Kontek Energy has been recognized for its work in sustainable energy production and storage. Conceived as a physical expression of the company’s evolving identity, the new headquarters reinterprets an existing office building through a process of transformation rooted in ecological and future-oriented design thinking. Retaining its original program while undergoing a comprehensive architectural renewal, the structure was stripped back to its primary structural frame and reimagined through a series of integrated interventions that establish a clear and contemporary architectural language.
Positioned within a larger industrial campus of factories and production facilities, the building was conceived as a distinct architectural marker. Its renewed presence seeks to establish visibility within the broader site and create an identifiable image for the company. The façade, inspired by the abstraction of electrical waves, forms the project’s defining architectural gesture and serves as a symbolic extension of Kontek’s work in the renewable energy sector. A composition of vertical timber elements of varying dimensions wraps the entrance elevation, introducing rhythm, depth, and a shifting play of light and shadow. This language extends beyond the building envelope into the outdoor break areas, where the repetition of the same elements creates spatial continuity and strengthens the relationship between architecture and landscape. The motif continues within the interior ceilings, reinforcing a cohesive design approach that links exterior and interior environments through a shared material and formal vocabulary.
The interior organization is structured around a series of color-defined zones that bring clarity and orientation to offices, executive suites, meeting rooms, and shared workspaces. A restrained material palette of neutral tones provides a calm and unified backdrop, while the careful integration of varied textures introduces depth and tactility. Floor finishes play a significant role in articulating the functional layout, distinguishing different programmatic areas while maintaining a sense of continuity across the workplace. Executive offices and meeting rooms are designed with varying degrees of visual and physical permeability, allowing for a nuanced balance between openness and privacy. In contrast, the open-plan work areas provide flexibility for changing team structures, diverse working styles, and evolving operational needs.
The project reflects a collaborative process in which the client’s ambition to cultivate a young, innovative, and contemporary working environment was matched by a willingness to embrace a strong architectural vision. Through the transformation of both the building envelope and its interior spaces, the existing structure is given a renewed architectural presence and an extended lifespan. Flexible planning strategies position the building to accommodate future change, while the overall intervention establishes a renewed relationship between brand, workplace, and context. More than a renovation, the project represents a process of adaptive transformation in which architecture becomes a vehicle for organizational identity, environmental responsibility, and long-term resilience.
