Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia

The Gentry Hub Honoring a pivotal chapter in Cambodia’s modern legal history, the multipurpose courtroom learning space was developed in close technical collaboration with the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials (UNAKRT) for the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). Tasked with balancing solemn historical commemoration with active civic pedagogy, The Room Architecture and Design engineered an interior capable of transitioning between three distinct institutional functions: an active courtroom, a tiered lecture theater, and an executive meeting room. 1. Marziyeh, the architect who helped us here at Rooydaad for three years, making our architectural endeavors brighter, sat before us one day, overwhelmed with fear and anxiety, and confessed that she no longer felt passionate about architecture and desired to focus solely on painting—a revelation that seemed incongruous given her professionalism and proficiency in her role. Rooydaad Architects    We encouraged her to weigh up her decision, considering its gravity. Ultimately, we agreed that she could transition to a part-time role at Rooydaad, allowing her to pursue her newfound passion for painting alongside her architectural duties. 2. A year later, Marziyeh returned, her resolve unwavering, to announce that she wa... More

Buenaventura Offices

We had been working with Buenaventura mining company since 2021, which had generated trust and allowed a smooth collaboration in their transition towards new ways of working, valuing their activities and optimizing spaces. This allowed them to move to a hybrid format, reducing their offices from five to two floors in Torre Begonias. This was accomplished by applying our prior knowledge on Buenaventura and the benchmark from our database. DRRP Spaces DRRP Spaces DRRP Spaces We focused on reusing most of the elements and prioritizing the colors of their raw material, the earth, instead of just their corporate colors. Admiral, Gurugram

Challenges:1. Since the office space is on the top floor of the building, so the ceiling was covered with undeck insulation. The design brief called for us to design a space with an exposed ceiling, so to tackle this problem, we did an entire false ceiling just below the sprinkler pipe to cover the underdeck insulation as well as all the sprinkler pipes and cable trays, maximizing the heights to our advantage and giving the look of an exposed ceiling as required. Naveen Saxena 2. Addition of branding in the space was another brief provided by the client, They wanted the branding to speak of their brand identity and depict India as part of their global identity and presence in addition to improving the look and feel of the space. OCAD U CO

OCAD U CO, or “CO” for short, is an executive training studio where companies take advantage of OCAD University’s focus on design thinking and creative problem-solving to drive change in their organizations. CO required a flexible environment for a variety of activities, able to evolve alongside the University’s business model over time. CO would also be OCAD’s first off-site space.
