Mountain Retreat Villa

Mountain Retreat Villa is a contemporary luxury residence conceived for a steep, forested mountain setting, where architecture and landscape are carefully integrated to create a private retreat immersed in nature. The design is organized as a series of interconnected volumes that follow the natural topography of the site, minimizing the visual impact of the building while maximizing panoramic views toward the surrounding forest and mountainous landscape. The stepped configuration creates multiple terraces and outdoor spaces, allowing different areas of the residence to maintain a direct relationship with the surrounding environment. Forest Pavilion

Deeply embedded in a Latvian pine forest, this ensemble brings together two distinct architectural positions: an existing log house with a weathered timber facade, slate roof and traditional form, and a new, low-lying extension that deliberately contrasts in its materiality. The addition presents itself as a strictly horizontal pavilion with a dark-coated steel frame and a wide, cantilevering flat roof that hovers like a quiet frame above the landscape. Among the pine trunks, ferns, wildflowers and stone slabs, the ensemble settles into the established vegetation without seeking to dominate it. Inside the new wing, dark slate, black surfaces and a substantial fireplace block of veined stone define the atmosphere: calm, grounded, reduced to... More

A HOME IN THE FOREST

FITTING IN WITH THE SURROUNDINGS In the village of Schrems, in the vicinity of a mud bath, stands a wooden house - its modest street facade, fitting in with the neighbouring houses, does not reveal the complex spaces of the building behind it. The client, an elderly lady who returned to her home village in Austria after years of living abroad, wished for a place where she could enjoy her retirement. Patricia Weisskirchner The entire building had to be designed barrier-free allowing the resident to live comfortably even with a possible disability of walking in the future, and also providing enough space for her friends who would come to visit from around the world. She imagined a house fitting in seamlessly with the surroundings a... More

Skyline

Every architectural project by Bezmirno is an attempt to create an environment that responds to the needs of both people and nature, while considering their interaction. Here, architecture does not dominate; it continues the horizon line. In this project, we aimed to achieve a balance between human dwelling and the surrounding environment, so that the house becomes not just a part of the landscape, but a natural extension of its rhythm. Bezmirno Architects Bezmirno Architects Bezmirno Architects Skyline House is architecture that does not seek to attract attention but works quietly on the level of everyday rituals. It is a space that creates conditions for inner peace, balance, and harmony. Architecture that remains in the f... More

La Brèche

The client wished to have the architect conceive a compact second home immersed in a woody lot in front of Mount Orford, in the Eastern Townships. The one-acre lot, characterized by a hilly landscape, is part of a housing development dating back to the 1970s. At its highest point, the property is topped with a bedrock on which it is decided to strongly anchor the new construction. Forest House

“Forest House”, located in Chatuchak, Bangkok, has challenged the trend of rapid urbanization of the city, as green areas are sacrificed to meet the demand of residential area causing impacts on the environment in many ways, importantly, air pollution. We can see from the fact that Bangkok has been facing PM 2.5 concentration level of air condition throughout the year, leaving visible effects on people’s health.    To solve this issue, growing trees seems to be a straightforward way that helps trapping particulate matters and producing oxygen according to the research. Hence, “Forest House” aims to utilize this approach and find a sustainable and low maintenance way for bringing back greenery into a... More

The Forest House

The Forest House is an exploration into materiality, light and the integration of architecture into the landscape. Situated in an exclusive forest estate in Durban, South Africa, the forest house strives to frame the landscape with clean horizontal lines. The home celebrates raw materials, which helps soften the transition between built form and the precious landscape that surrounds it. This raw materiality reinforces the honesty behind the architectural tectonics of its construction.Through subtle manipulations of materials and forms we sought to alter perceptions. By chamfering brutal edges, we revealed concretes cool elegance. Concrete Frames are propped off steel columns converting heavy and cumbersome to light and agile. The pool st... More
