Why hybrid? – Mariusz, an investor, a very active person, contacted us with the need to adapt a new development apartment to a space that would fulfill several functions: a place for remote work, a meeting place when the owner wants to invite and sit at the table in a larger group of friends or family members, guest apartment; a place for film screenings and physical activities. This 115 sqm apartment is located in the suburbs of Tel Aviv. The apartment's previous plan featured a segregated layout including the public & private spaces divided by a long wall. The kitchen was small and the public space, living & dining area were located in a long, narrow space. Karin Ravenna The apartment was designed for a couple with a girl and a dog who wanted a contemporary cozy space that would include a public open plan, two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a home office, work areas and lots of storage space. When intervening in a space such as this apartment, one should not interfere with the existing architecture. More than to propose, it was necessary to omit, to refurbish and integrate. It was essential to intervene in this apartment in the most clean and silent manner to better respond to its new needs.   The building where this apartment is placed was originally designed as an Hotel Particulier. The apartment occupies the entire 1st floor, which was originally dedicated to the social areas – namely 11 parlours, one of which was used as a bathroom. GOOD LIFE – is a family nest in a countryside, which we were lucky to work out for a young couple and their children – two boys and a girl, who is awaited in the family. The original house layout was changed – we added additional functional rooms and at the same time preserved the double-light spaces and ceiling heights. A cloakroom was placed near the entrance, and the extra one we decided to locate on the first floor – a place for it was built on a furnace. A large-scaled wardrobe for missis we created instead one of the former ground floor bedrooms. This is probably the largest wardrobe that we have ever designed. A small private house is located in a picturesque place about 30 km from Riga. The land plot is on the boarder of the forest and is located near the Gulf of Riga.A separate position of the buildings (house and garage) on the site is due to the fact that they were erected on the previously existing foundations. The buildings are connected by a terrace.The house is functionally divided into two parts: the main and guest areas. Connection between the zones is carried out through an indoor passage in the building, which visually connects the courtyard with the forest.For external finishing and the terrace, Latvian granary board impregnated with a hydrophobic compound was used.
