Two-level apartment in a townhouse is located in the suburbs of St. Petersburg. The apartment has two functional levels. The first floor is occupied by a kitchen / living room, there is also a small laundry / guest bathroom. Two adjacent duplex flats

Situated on the third floor of a Victorian conversion, these two duplex apartments had one major issue to resolve: to improve the circulation throughout the property. North London based XUL Architecture considered many options for this property before considering moving the staircase to the centre of the building.   There was one hurdle though, how to ensure the staircase could be positioned underneath the chimney stack with millimetres to spare.These two adjacent duplex flats were previously converted into one apartment, but the two staircases remained. Option 1‘A geometrically striking industrial-chic office building employing forthrightsustainable design methodology and technology.’   In mid-2015 AOJ was commissioned to design a new office building for Caldas Engineering, a supplier of crusher parts to the mining industry. An atypical duplex apartment in the Prague quarter Podolí stands out with its ground-plan shape, building structure and the unconventional entrance from the outdoor gallery. Clients approached us with a desire to fully reconstruct the apartment from the early 90's and to adjust its space for maximal usage. In the original layout, the owners didn’t use one of the most beautiful rooms with a balcony due to its position in the apartment, so it only served as a laundry and storage room. The 98m 2 apartment lies on two floors, each floor is 3.3m wide and 14.9m long.
